Proof of the Pudding Group Photo Session

The staff at Proof of the Pudding would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season.

In early December, I was called in to take a group photograph for the front of the holiday card that Proof sent out this year. You can see the group photo of the staff (at least the staff who were there that day) at the bottom of this post.

After the big group shot, Chef Vagn wanted a few photos of his fellow chefs.

While at their fabulous new corporate office in West Midtown, I was also asked to photograph members of their staff at work. Here are a few of my favorites:

Jen and Stacey's Pine Lake Clubhouse Wedding

We finally had the chance to photograph a wedding here in our tiny burg of Pine Lake.

Jen and Stacey, former residents, chose the clubhouse as the location of their laid back October festivity. Their intimate wedding  ceremony took place on the clubhouse lawn under the pine trees. Then the party moved indoors (well, most of it did) for food, drink and dancing.

Wedding and reception were both kid-friendly, which proved useful. Entertainment, in the form of singing and dancing, was provided by several of the younger folks in attendance.

A lemonade stand made by Jen's Mom was a highlight of the decor. And corn hole on the lawn prompted many laughs.

Rachael and Nem's Intimate Farmhouse Wedding in North Georgia

Wanted: Fun, outdoor, farmhouse wedding, where friends and family can gather and celebrate and have fun, too.

Needed:

1. Beautiful farmhouse.

2. Gorgeous day.

3. Fun games.

4. Great music.

5. Awesome decor.

6. Food trucks.

7. Loving family.

8. Supportive friends.

9. Lots of kids.

Result:

Proof of the Pudding Caters New Flyer Reception at the World of Coke

The all-star crew at Proof of the Pudding put together an all-American menu for the guests attending the New Flyer Reception at the World of Coke earlier this week.

Here are a few of our favorite event photographs starring Proof of the Pudding's food.

The pretzel station, included a variety of pretzels, of course, and a special cheese soup chaser.

Looking for some down-home Southern cooking taken to the next level? You couldn't find anything better than this Proof of the Pudding Biscuit Station. It included sweet potato biscuits, garlic cheddar biscuits, buttermilk biscuits, and cornbread muffins.

If you still had room after the biscuit station, you could've moved on to the Bar-B-Que, where in addition to Bar-B-Que short ribs, you could find an awesome fried green tomato creation, or some gourmet macaroni and cheese.

Yep, here's that fried green tomato concoction I mentioned above.

And if you saved room for dessert, or even if you didn't, you would have found a dessert station with delicacies, including the chocolate cup, above.

Catrina Getting Ready: Wedding at Fountain of Faith MBC

Sometimes couples wonder if they really need to have a photographer taking photographs while they are getting ready.

Sometimes, as a photographer, when reviewing the photographs from one of my shoots, I am surprised by one of my own photos.

It doesn't happen all that often, but it's always a delight when it does. The photograph above, taken at Aaron and Catrina's reception at the Marriott Gateway Atlanta, is one of those photographs.

I remember the moments, just a few, when Catrina's Uncle Jerry took to the dance floor to show off his moves. I remember focusing on the action and taking a few shots. But I have no recollection of choosing to focus my camera on the bride's reaction, which, let's face it, is what makes that photograph.

Do I attribute that shift in focus to pure luck, or to a photographer's second sense? I'm not sure. I'm just glad it happened. I'm pretty uncle Jerry will be, too.

Personal Branding Photos for Diogi Founder Courtney DeDi

Courtney Dedi of diogi will be hosting her own podcast soon and wanted a photograph that would show her as the fun-loving, edgy, professional entrepreneur that she is.

Personal branding is all the rage these days. (The term actually goes back at least as far as 1997, when Tom Peters wrote the two sentences quoted above in an article published in Fast Company.)

Given the visual nature of the world we live in (websites, Facebook pages, Linkedin accounts, etc.) it's only natural that someone who is intentional about creating a personal brand would turn to a professional photographer for help. That's just what our friend Courtney DeDi, founder of Dioge Pet Services, did a few weeks back.

Courtney, who comes from a family of entrepreneurs, decided to make her mark in the business world by creating a pet services company that is a step above the competition.

She wanted photographs that would show her as the professional she is, while at the same time capturing the edginess and acceptance she brings to the Diogi company culture. 

“You can have piercings, tattoos and green hair, we’re cool with it, as long as you love animals and love people.  Diogi is a very accepting company.”

We created a series of photographs, some edgier than others, so she could choose just the right photograph for the right occasion. The professional head shot for LinkedIn, perhaps, and the laid-back photos for her website, or podcast page.

After the session, we asked Courtney what she thought.

“Oh my gosh, it was so much fun. So relaxing. Sharon kept me laughing the whole time. So overall, a wonderful experience. I can’t wait to see the final product.”
