I'm also an adventurous traveler and all-round nerd. I love to hike with my beagle/cattle dog Roux and best friend/spouse.

I was born in Atlanta, moved around a lot--30 cities and 5 states--and then came back.

After graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta, I took a job at asmall newspaper in south Georgia, where I photographedhospital teas, pecan farmers, and beauty queens.

I photographed a biker funeral, death penalty protests andTed Bundy while interning with the Associated Press.

While a photographer for two dailies in Florida, I photographed Ronald Reagan, a train derailment and the dedication of a screened-in porch.

An unexpected life turn took me to Vermont where I fell in love with Bernie Sanders and on to Indiana, where I edited photos for a major daily, and nerded out getting a master’s and PhD.

After teaching photojournalism at colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana and Mississippi, I returned to Atlanta to earn myfifth degree--a Master's of Divinity.

My passion for storytelling with my camera and my interest in religious diversity led my to the field of wedding photojournalism.

I have documented weddings large and small, Unitarian and Pagan, indoors and out, Christian and Muslim, in backyards and in churches. The most exotic wedding I have photographed took place in Mexico and was officiated by aMayan shaman.

When I'm not photographing weddings, portraits or corporate events, I work on personal photo projects, visit friends in amemory-care home, and volunteer at a recovery center.

Roux Finds a Permanent Roost: Atlanta Pet Photography

We have a new puppy in our household. His name is Roux and he is quite adorable. My spouse brought him home from work where he was living in a storm drain with his Mom and three other puppies. We thought about naming him Stormy, but when he started bucking around on his leash, Buckaroo seemed more appropriate. Thinking that our older dog Barney might be confused if we called the new pup Bucky, we decided on Roo. (Turns out his little bark sounds like roo roo.)

When we took him for Sunday Brunch at the Raging Burrito in Decatur, someone suggested the spelling "Roux" and so Roux it is.

North Georgia Winery Wedding

Thought I'd share some of my favorites from Kelly and Daniel's Blackstock Winery wedding. These were taken by my assistant photographer Sharon McMahon and my intern Kara Johnson. We all had a delightful time photographing the event. The Blackstock Winery is a perfect place for a wedding. I love the way they have it set up so that instead of walking down the aisle, the bride and her Dad enter through an aisle of grape vines.

This wedding included some wonderful touches, including Adirondack chairs for guests to sign, some artsy boutineers, and paper bags with the letter "T" (for Terrell -- Daniel's last name and Kelly's, too now) cut in a variety of typefaces:

Atlanta Marriott Century Center | Wedding Venue

I met Jennifer Hill, Senior Catering Sales Executive at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, at a recent networking event. A couple of weeks ago, she was kind enough to take me on a tour of their awesome event space. There are 20 meeting rooms available at the Century Century Marriott with more than 25,000 sq-ft of meeting space. The 5,000-sq-ft Century Ballroom, largest of the rooms with a capacity of 800, is perfect for a luxury wedding.

In addition to the meeting rooms, those planning weddings or other events can take advantage of poolside event space.

The guest rooms are newly remodeled and great for out of town guests.

Here are a few old photos of my adorable Dad when he was quite young ... before he even met my Mom. Love the hand-colored photos, the hair and the tie.

When you have a Dad as awesome as my Dad was, you end up with lots of wonderful memories that live on after he's no longer with you. Thankfully a few of my memories of my Dad are saved on 8 mm movie film, because I was too young in this one to have an actual memory. The movie memory is delightful to watch, though.
