Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Rev. Dawn, an interfaith minister who performs lots of interfaith weddings in the Atlanta area. I attended a meetup of Spiritual Entrepreneurs that Rev. Dawn started and got to know her through that event. We decided it would be great for me to head over to her place one day to document the activities of her five-year-old son and his new kitten (and his much shyer cat.) Miles is a deligtful five-year-old full of energy and lots of awesome expressions.

I photographed a biker funeral, death penalty protests andTed Bundy while interning with the Associated Press.

While a photographer for two dailies in Florida, I photographed Ronald Reagan, a train derailment and the dedication of a screened-in porch.

An unexpected life turn took me to Vermont where I fell in love with Bernie Sanders and on to Indiana, where I edited photos for a major daily, and nerded out getting a master’s and PhD.

After teaching photojournalism at colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana and Mississippi, I returned to Atlanta to earn myfifth degree--a Master's of Divinity.

My passion for storytelling with my camera and my interest in religious diversity led my to the field of wedding photojournalism.

I have documented weddings large and small, Unitarian and Pagan, indoors and out, Christian and Muslim, in backyards and in churches. The most exotic wedding I have photographed took place in Mexico and was officiated by aMayan shaman.

When I'm not photographing weddings, portraits or corporate events, I work on personal photo projects, visit friends in amemory-care home, and volunteer at a recovery center.

A reception at C'Sons Restaurant on Main Street in LaGrange followed the christening ceremony. Sydney changed into an adorable sundress and continued to be the center of attention.

Capturing the personality of young children is so much fun. So many of them wear their personality on their sleeve. But put them in a photo studio and sometimes that sparkling personality loses its shine. That's why I like to take children's portraits in a playground, park or even in their on home where they can be themselves without worrying about the camera. Recently I went to Stone Mountain Park with Addy and Ansley where we played at the Old Grist Mill and on the playground. Here are a few of my favorite portraits from the day:

I headed back to the Spring Street sledding hill today to record the sounds of sledding and found folks sledding down the hill in a 20-year old kayak. The jump that folks began building yesterday afternoon while I was there, was bigger and icier than ever.
